just watched Tron the other night if you couldn’t tell…
 
To be honest i can’t recall who took that photo, if it was me i sure don’t remember seeing that sign, but, that’s kind of status quo for me, on ignoring authority that is… kidding
 
Anyways, we wanted to share with you a brief look behind the scenes of our 2 day excursion at the Western Canada Summer Games… Apologies on the quality of some of these shots, not only are some of them done with smart-phones, which although takes pretty good quality photos, we were more then likely walking or precariously snapping with one arm, which obviously makes the picture a little muddy…
 
Also, again, we are still getting comfortable with this whole documenting thing, and i can assure you i thought i took a boat-load of photos over the 2 days only to come home, transfer them to my computer and realize that quite frankly, i hardly took any… oh well, chances are the scenes from the brothel are probably better left a mystery… i joke i joke, no brothel unfortunately, but we did walk around downtown a bit and i guess i was too busy engaging in some ornithology, or in Lehman’s terms – serious girl watching, to remember to snap any shots…
 
This will be a loose chronological representation of our episodes presented in a first person account… Since i only know what i see and i cannot speak fluently for -dk and nor should i, so this will be my take on the event… Enjoy

DAY 1

 
Interior Savings Center… Who ever would have thought our 3rd GIG would be in an Arena… pretty cool stuff, and somewhat Ignorant, or rather, IGNAANT!!! Hopefully we will be back there one day doing our own show, now that would be also very cool…
 

 
A shot from the back, nothing much to see here, just your typical Arena…
 

 
There’s me, wandering around aimlessly heading in the opposite direction then what i should have, or perhaps exactly in the direction planned, it is tough to tell, but not because of the camera work, which is obviously brilliant…
 

 
Getting acquainted with everything and being escorted around to meet everyone… Me (Me), Alan (Producer) & Doug (Sound Engineer) and Daryl hiding behind the camera lens, i wasn’t even aware he took a lot of these shots…
 

 
SURPRISE!!! Me walking around aimlessly, again, or so it appears…
 

 
That’s me again, talking with Alan about something, all should be very clear from this clear picture so really should not have to explain much…
 

 
We even had our own dressing room and everything, check out the posh sign… the spelling seems to be correct although i can’t be too sure…
 

 
Heeeeyyyy, not only am i smiling, my eyes are open… for whatever reason it seems a lot of photos seem to catch me with my eyes closed, which is really odd since i don’t blink much and when i do they are only closed for milliseconds, weird, which when talking about me is actually kind of normal… My bro says it is my reticent stubbornness not wanting to allow the camera to peer into my soul, i thought that was pretty cool… also even though i try to smile a lot, for some reason, the camera goes off a lot when i’m not, again, weird, which, again, in my case is quite normal… Sooooo, if you were thinking the photos of me not smiling were some dark and troubled image or something, well, nope, it’s all just very peculiar timing really, welcome to my life…
 

 
-dk in the hizzouse, drying his hands for some reason with the old antiquated hand dryer which really hardly drys them at all, see any towels laying around? guess not … anyhoo, notice the crisp pristine picture, notice who’s being shot and who’s not?? i kid i kid, standing still and light helps tremendously, but still, i’d prefer to believe that it’s my phenomenal camera-ing skill that is the real difference… lol
 

 
Alan Corbishley again, gesturing to security to get me the hell out of that place, sadly they couldn’t manage my massive 165 pound frame and intense and chiseled fighting skills, their guns were no match… i’m not sure where Daryl was at this time, surely seriously tending to some serious business matter somewhere seriously…
 

 
Alan again, Conner i believe but could be wrong (terrible with names ) [EDIT: i forgot we had a program guide, guess what, everyones name is in there, smh... Conor is the name, i was close anyways] and Amy Baskin the other Producer of the games… what were they talking about?? if i remember correctly something to do with the ruffian musical artist Jimmy Current and all the trouble they were causing with their brash shenanigans, or something like that Amy and Alan were really calm and well composed the whole time, and considering the magnitude of the event and all the moving parts it was very impressive to say the least… as you will see further down our pre-show preparation was anything but relaxing…
 


 
Here is Conor again, Projection and Lighting… He was manually running everything Live, very impressive considering everything…
 

 
Doug Perry, the Live Sound Engineer, owns his own recording studio in Kamloops… we spent a bit of time peering over his shoulder like a hawk i am sure he was pretty sick of me by the time it was all said and done… that being said what a nice thing having other people worry about all this stuff, blessing…

Daryl managing everything from above and taking it all in, and clearly working extremely hard, never one to put his feet up… on this shot i was mostly going for Daryl’s head as i thought it would make a stellar photograph, but i apparently managed to get a good shot down the length of the Arena instead…
 

 
There’s me, sticking my nose in where it probably doesn’t belong, shocking!!! Just looking through the detailed itinerary as we waited around… Daryl snapping away, we didn’t even discuss this stuff, that’s team-work baby

Backstage shot… if you peer to the middle-lower right corner of the photo you can see a ramp, that would be where we came on for our set… the black-lights came off for us as our dancers got real low and they blocked them otherwise…
 

 
Our tech rehearsal, going over some last minute stuff with the dance crew… not exactly sure what i was doing at this moment, probably caught in la la land checking out the girls while trying not to check them out kind of thing, Daryl hiding his girl watching by pretending to take photo’s, sneaky guy…
 

 
this is pretty cool… Interior Savings Center has plaques of every big event they have had i guess, here is one of Matthew Good Band, too many to take all of them…
 
That pretty much wraps up Day 1, minus some poor eating, and everything else we did around the few seconds all these photos represent..
 

DAY 2

We mostly skipped documenting the same things and fast forwarded to just before the ceremonies… i can say that we had some minor technicalities in our final sound check which led us to having a lot of uncertainty throughout the rest of the day leading up to our set… long story short, standing at the bottom of the ramp waiting to go on, we didn’t know if our monitors would be working and if so what we would even get… Doug being the pro he is had it perfect, which is what we assumed… i am pretty confident in saying that he was just testing us earlier, and i told him as much he denied it of course, but wouldn’t you too?? just giving him a hard time, he is an audio guy remember…
 
anyhoo, onwards ho…

 
alrighty, Day 2 here we go… different clothes, same stunning personality, same big smiles haha we were pretty tired, it was a long day 1 and the heat was heavy… .
 

 
Hey, see, we’re smiling… These were the Choreographers, Sharon Wood on the L and Krista Farady on the R… what’s with Daryl and the hover?? boooo!!! not me though, i try to keep it reasonably safe sometimes perhaps… What’s with the shirt tuck though?? tragic, must have just woke up or something…
 

 
ahaha, here we go, eyes fully closed… so typical… i seriously don’t get it… i am smiling though so half the battle is won! even Daryl has a feint perk up at the cheeks….
 

 
Here is our Dance crew, love you girls i look high, which i can assure you i was not, must have been trying to get the eyes closed again!!! blast!!!! again taking full advantage of the arm wrap, both sides… notice Daryl and the shirt, freshly pressed and ready for action…
 


 
Our door security, ain’t no one messing with them!!!! Charlie and Margerie, we probably spent more time standing outside the dressing room talking with them then in the dressing room…
 

 
Team BC marching into the Arena to a raucous applause, the energy was rather awesome… some performers waiting for their parts… this was basically right outside of our dressing room door, pretty cool spot, thanks guys
 

 
hey whos that a$$, oh, whoops, that’s me!!! i remember when my pants used to sag to my knees, now it’s closer to Erkel then anything, smh… this was during the National Anthem sang by Peter Collins, he belted it like a Pro, probably because he is a Pro another sly photo by Daryl, buddy could be a Ninja!! according to some he actually is…
 

 
a shot from the Guest seats, you can see Athletes, Volunteers and a bunch of people on the other side… Miss Kamloops was sitting over there somewhere, imagine me knowing where Miss Kamloops was sitting, i know hard to believe isn’t it? … the Premiere?? no clue, Miss Kamloops, radar!!!
 

 
i have no clue who this is, but you can tell he’s a pretty serious dude…
 

 
this was my performance costume, i know, extravagant… actually, i didn’t even mean to bring this shirt, it just happened to tag along… the other shirts just didn’t work and a lot of my clothes are elsewhere right now so i had to go with this one, again… pretty standard stuff, standing around looking good making a fool of myself!!!

yup, this is how i prepare… note to self, next time demand a couch!!! seriously, i did catch a bit of a nap, although this shot was staged…
 


 
Kate Morgan Band, they were on right before us… that’s, you guessed it, Kate Morgan on the lead… she had the same Mic i used, and when she walked off stage she still had it, someone had to run and grab it from her, personally i think she was doing it on purpose to try and mess with my steez and sabotage our set, but there is a slim possibility she was just super jacked after the performance, which just doesn’t seem as likely does it?? anyways, it wasn’t too sweaty or anything and i didn’t get sick so Kate cooties avoided, phew … apparently she likes me, or that’s what someone told me anyways, but i don’t know about that, if so she has a weird way of showing it, sort of…
 




 
Some fan shots from the crowd of us in action, finally… most of these shots show us away from the crowd oddly, mixed within the girls, to be expected, but really though, for the most part we were rocking the front of the stage…

We are working on a full post with some pictures and trying to get some video footage up for anyone who wishes to see us rocking out the Arena with our team of Dancers

It is pretty crazy to think that our 3rd Gig ever was something this big in an Arena and all, but it was amazing… great energy, what  a blast… Anyhoo, stay tuned as we try and get some more stuff to check out…
